Tampere
Film Festival presents important documentaries about testosterone
fueled noise. The recent documentary film Einstürzende Neubauten:
Listen With Pain tells the story of the world's first and
foremost industrial band.
The film
covers Einstürzende Neubauten's whole 20-year career through
interviews, music videos and live footage. The film relays
a comprehensive image about this avantgarde group, which used
everyday background noise and self-made industrial instruments
as building blocks to create their music.

Film Festival music video screening 2001

The
music video screening of the Tampere Film Festival is a cross
section from indie to mainstream, in terms of both image and
sound. On Saturday the 10th of March at 7 p.m., the Tampere
Hall Small Auditorium hosts videos made by old favourites
as well as yet unknown greats of tomorrow. The screening is
not a competition but a collage of the greatest and most interesting
music videos made last year. It consists of 22 videos full
of funny incidents, fine images and great tracks!
The Finnish
music video is on the upbeat, prompted by the international
recognition of Finnish music. Also contributing to this development
is the growing number of media schools; a three-minute music
video seems like a handy tool for practising the trade.
The technical
level is quite high, and there is no lack of visual insight,
either. The biggest problem seems to lie in the scripts: "Let's
just roll the tape, the band's looking good." To be successful
and entertaining, however, a video needs more substance than
that. The exemplary videos of this screening include those
starred by Pauli Hanhiniemen Perunateatteri, Maj Karman Kauniit
Kuvat, Emmi and Thee Ultra Bimboos.
