Tales from the Taverns in Prague

An anti-racist exhibition featuring Czech and Finnish puppet animations, puppets and sketches from Katariina Lillqvist's series of gypsy tales, Jan Balej's animations and Milla Moilanen's Wanted-film.

AV-Ark Presents
Valokuvakeskus Nykyaika, 9.3.–1.4.2001

The distribution centre for media art, AV-Ark, present new video installations by three young artists. The underlying theme is the idiosyncratic representation of everyday life. These installations are somewhere in the middle between the visual arts and film.

Lenin Museum, 7.–12.3.2001

Leo Berkovits photographed Russian prisoners of war and the Finnish medical staff in the POW hospital in Kokkola between 1941 and 1942. Berkovits's pictures are a rare treasure, and the collection is now seen outside Kokkola for the first time. The exhibition is open daily at the Lenin Museum.

Film Making in Peru
March 8th, 1 pm

A discussion about Peruvian cinema March 8th, 1 pm in the Fuuga cafeteria at Tampere Hall. The opening speakers are Elizabeth Marschan, Norma Rivera, the Executive Coordinator of Cineteca in Peru, and the Peruvian director Aldo Salvini. The discussion is open to public.

March 8th, 5 pm

Discussion about new experimental fim in the room 201 at Tampere Hall, March 8th, 5 pm. The gathering is hosted by Antti Vuorio and the speakers include Mika Taanila, Ian Helliwell, Tiina Erkintalo. The discussion is open to public.

Lectures

Cultural Heritage in Documentaries and Animations

Katariina Lillqvist's lecture in Suvituuli (Yliopistonkatu 60 A) on March 9th, from 3 pm to 7 pm. The topic is the gathering of cultural heritage and how it can be used in the context of an animated film. Lillqvist introduces her new film Romanien peili. An exiled Czech Romany is expected as a guest lecturer.

Pro Studia Generalia at the University

A series of lectures organised jointly by Tampere Art Museum, the University of Tampere and the Art Society of Tampere. The topic is life in the ancient Peru. Every thursday in the main auditorium of the University of Tampere, the first two lectures in the lecture hall A1.

The Publication of the book on Stunts

Stuntista toiseen is the first book about Finnish stuntmen. It follows the careers of the stuntmen after they took part in a stunt-course in 1994. The publication party is held at the cafeteria of Tampere Hall 8th of March 5 pm. The book is sold at the Film Festival (FIM 149).
