A showcase of Finnish independent trash is organized at Student
Union House from 14 to 21 at Saturday. By independent trash
we mean self-financed films, which are usually made by amateurs,
and which almost never make it to the silver screen and remain
totally unknown to the general audience.
Stylistically,
generically and qualitatively independent films vary to no
end. There is splatter, romance, drama, science fiction and
horror. They are often parodies of Hollywood movies and conventions,
revelling in bad taste and very effective in recycling generic
clichés. This screening of the products of Finnish film enthusiasts
is rich in geographical variety. .
