TAMPERE FILM FESTIVAL 2004

Tampere Film Festival will be held again on March 3-7, 2004. The core of the
festival programme consists of the traditional and distinguished
competitions for new international short film and new Finnish short film. A new international competition for short film made by children will be introduced in 2004. Our special programmes once again feature cinema from the four corners of the Earth: retrospectives from directors of current interest, fresh documentaries and interesting animations.

In 2003, nearly 30,000 people attended the more than 120 screenings at
Tampere Film Festival. Among the most popular programmes were the St.
Petersburg screenings, Case Records: Sweden, Indian Women¹s Stories and the
John Smith Retrospective. Meanwhile, festival seminars, panels and the Film
Market gathered together a fair number of Finnish and international professionals in the audiovisual field.

In 2003, The Grand Prix of the International Jury was awarded to Michael Bates for his film THE PROJECTIONIST (Australia 2002). In the Finnish competition, the main prize in the category of films of up to 30 minutes
went to Selma Vilhunen for her film MY LITTLE ELEPHANTS (Finland 2002). In
the category of films of over 30 minutes, the main prize was awarded to Alexis Kouros and Kari Tervo for their film WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER (Finland 2002).
