Tampere Film Festival and Pirkanmaa Film Centre are organizing a film festival for children during the Tampere International Short Film Festival (3rd - 7th of March 2004) in Finland.

In the year 2004 Finland will see a celebration of children's films, children's film culture and media education. It's important to produce films for children and give them a chance to see interesting movies. Furthermore, it's important to give children knowledge of filmmaking. Doing your own videos is one of the best ways to jump into the world of movies.

We are interested in, and looking for films made by children. We want our screenings to be an open forum for kids, but also an interesting selection of children's works from all over the world.

We are also interested in different kinds of practical media education and people who work in that field. We will arrange a meeting for media educators, where people can share their ideas and exchange their knowledge.

We would be very grateful, if you could send us a survey on media educational centres and video festivals for kids. We also ask for your kind help in spreading the word: can you please pass this info on to possible parties of interest, and/or provide us with contacts to people or organizations in this area of work in your region.

Guidelines:
- The festival is held 3rd – 7th March 2004 in Tampere, Finland
- Deadline for entries to the film festival for children is December 10th 2003
- Films may not exceed a length of 15 minutes
- Film-makers must be aged 13 or under
- Entries must be on VHS (PAL/NTSC), S-VHS, mini-DV, DVD or CD-rom
- Assistance by professionals/teachers should be kept to a minimum
- We would appreciate English subtitles or an English dialogue translation attached
- Entry form for the festival will be published on this site shortly
