ONEDOTZERO – DIGITAL FILMS

What is happening in the field of digital cinema at the moment? The programme of digital films for the Tampere Film Festival gives at least three different answers to this question.

The three Onedotzero screenings introduce fresh styles and techniques to the realm of digital film. Wow + Flutter 04 exhibits trends and concepts of the moving image, bringing together the political, poetic, aesthetic and emotional aspects of cinematic language. Graphic Cities is a collection of urban symphonies that explore the changes in modern life, their interpretations and the structures in city environments.

Wavelength 04 consists of music videos, which have traditionally been the breeding ground of young hopefuls, new ideas and daring experiments. The middle of the road is definitely not where these creative, audacious risktakers are treading.

The programme has been produced by the British Onedotzero, a centre for digital film production and distribution. Founded in 1996, Onedotzero has since 1997 organised a festival in London, which has grown into the biggest event dedicated to digital film in the world. The centre also produces short films, interactive media, installations and live shows.

The aim of Onedotzero is to study and develop the technical and artistic possibilities of digital film. The appearance of new innovations is accelerated by a multidisciplinary approach, through which ideas and equipment from filmmaking, graphic design and new medias come together.

Onedotzero's clients include global corporations, and the centre has been involved in, among other things, the making of the European advert for Sony PlayStation 2. In its 25th anniversary issue, the Screen International magazine placed Onedotzero in its list of the ten most important visionaries of the British film industry.

ONEDOTZERO – DIGITAALISET ELOKUVAT

Missä mennään digitaalisen elokuvan kentällä juuri nyt? Tampereen elokuvajuhlien digitaalisen elokuvan ohjelmisto kertoo kysymykseen vähintään kolme erilaista vastausta.
Kolme Onedotzero-näytöstä esittelevät digielokuvan raikkaita tyylejä ja tekniikoita. Näytös Wow + Flutter 04 tuo esiin liikkuvan kuvan trendejä ja konsepteja, joissa yhdistyvät elokuvakielen poliittinen, poeettinen, esteettinen ja emotionaalinen näkökulma. Kaupunkisinfonioiden näytös Graphic Cities tutkii modernin elämän muutoksia, tulkintaa ja rakentuneisuutta urbaaneissa kaupunkiympäristöissä.
Wavelength 04 -näytös pitää sisällään musiikkivideoita, jotka ovat perinteisesti olleet nuorten lupausten, uusien ideoiden ja rohkeiden kokeilujen kasvualusta. Sana, joka parhaiten kuvailee näitä luovia ja uskaliaita riskikokeiluja, ei ainakaan ole turvallinen keskitie.
Kokonaisuuden tuottaa brittiläinen digitaalisen elokuvan tuotanto- ja levityskeskus Onedotzero.
Vuonna 1996 perustettu Onedotzero on järjestänyt Lontoossa vuodesta 1997 lähtien festivaalia, joka on kasvanut maailman suurimmaksi digitaaliselle elokuvalle omistetuksi tapahtumaksi. Keskus tuottaa myös lyhytelokuvia, interaktiivista mediaa, installaatioita ja live-esityksiä.
Onedotzeron tavoitteena on tutkia ja kehittää digitaalisen elokuvan teknisiä ja taiteellisia mahdollisuuksia. Uusien innovaatioiden syntyä edistää monimediallinen lähestymistapa, jonka avulla voidaan yhdistellä ideoita ja välineitä muun muassa elokuvanteon, graafisen suunnittelun ja uusmedian alueilta.
Onedotzeron asiakkaina ovat olleet maailmanlaajuiset suuryritykset, ja keskus on ollut mukana tekemässä muun muassa Sonyn PlayStation 2:n Euroopan mainosvideota. Screen Internationals -lehti nimesi keskuksen 25-vuotisnumerossaan Iso-Britannian elokuvateollisuuden kymmenen tärkeimmän visionäärin joukkoon.
