A trucker picks up a Spanish tourist and her son who have had a road accident. Afraid that they will get in trouble, they put the blame for the accident on somebody else. Though this is only the beginning of a chain of events that she will never come to fully understand.

Espanjalainen naisturisti joutuu auto-onnettomuuteen. Rekkakuski poimii hänet ja hänen poikansa kyytiin, ja koska turistit pelkäävät että he joutuvat onnettomuuden vuoksi vaikeuksiin, he vierittävät syyn muiden niskoille. Three people born on isolated upland still live there: a man, a limping girl and another elderly man. An invisible threat lingers about the place and the people. The man and girl decide to leave while the old man stays. They flee for a place beyond destiny's reach, a place still completely unknown to them. The old man, now all alone at the foot of the black hills, makes a decision for the sake of his home and himself.

Yksinäisellä ylängöllä on syntynyt ja elää yhdessä kolme ihmistä: mies, rampa tyttö ja vanhus. Näkymätön uhka leijuu paikan ja siellä asuvien ihmisten yllä. Mies ja tyttö päättävät lähteä, vanhus jää. He pakenevat paikkaan, johon kohtalo ei yllä, paikkaan, jota he eivät itsekään tiedä. Tummien kukkuloiden varjoon yksin jäänyt vanhus tekee päätöksen kotipaikkansa ja itsensä nimeen.
